Traditional Nathdwara Pichwai

A traditional darshan of Shree Ji, rooted in the visual language of Nathdwara.

Pichwai developed around the seva of Shree Ji, with paintings changing according to festivals, seasons and different moments of worship.

In this composition, Shree Ji remains the central presence, while the surrounding motifs build the atmosphere of darshan through symmetry, ornament and devotional detail.

What makes a traditional Shree Ji Pichwai special is not only the image itself, but the larger ritual world it comes from — a painting tradition created to accompany worship and bring the experience of darshan into visual form.

Hand-painted on cotton.
